Introduction This case study involves the analysis for the environmental situation, to assess the derived demand of the Fibrlok splice and the cause of declining or stagnant sale figure. The derived demand for Fibrlok splice depends on the demand of the fibre optic cable networks, which inturn depends on the consumers demand to high speed communication transmission and the telecom companies' willingness to change existing copper to fibre optic network. The evaluation of various alternatives enables 3M's Telecom System Division to reformulate its strategic direction and operational control.
