From 1965 to 1976 broadcasting was extended from 20 minutes a day to four hours a day. 1982 was a big year. A plan to have television availability for 70% of the population was proclaimed. During the late 1980s and early 1990's coverage was increasing to 80% because of the increase in the number of TV transmitters. Also broadcasting was lasting about eleven hours now! However, the entire network consisted of only one channel, except for in the urban areas that had two. TV was not viewed as a common item in all households; it was viewed as a luxury item.
