Since the enormous growth resulting from the 1990s internet revolution, it has become a tool companies in many industries in many countries use to fulfil their aims and objectives. According to Gates (2000), it has 'spawned entirely new industries, transformed existing ones and become a global cultural phenomenon'. This essay highlights the reasons for the Internet's success (referring to specific industries), its effect on organisations and future potential for companies in both B2B and B2C markets.
