Park and Rebecca Scannell March 10, 2004 The purpose of this report is to explore the nature of XM's satellite radio industry and make recommendations for future competitive actions. We will begin our report analyzing the external environment by highlighting Porter's five forces and follow with an assessment of the general environment. Then, we will provide an internal analysis of the company by taking a look at their current business strategy, resources, capabilities and core competencies. This will allow us to identify the key opportunities and threats relevant to XM. The report will conclude with our recommendations.
