Computer Aided Manufacture (CAM) Food manufacturers used computers in stages of there manufacture because it costs less than labour, is quicker than humans and reduces the chance of human error. The usage of CAM has led to a loss of many jobs. A computer can now do the jobs off lower paid workers, while the more skilled higher paid workers have not lost their jobs. One computer operator can now run a computer that may have done the job of 100's of people. The computer operators will have the responsibility of maintaining the computers. Computer Aided Design (CAD) CAD can be used to analyse a particular product and help find out its nutritional values. You can change the ingredients on a computer and see how the different ingredients effect the product. With the ingredients you can see the nutritional profile that may match your specification.
