Port Washington Brewing Co. has a long history that can be traced back to nineteenth century. In 1847 Jacob Moritz opened the Lakeside Brewery which was located at 419 Lake Street in Port Washington, WI. The brewery was purchased in the mid 1870's by Henry Dix, a saloon keeper, and renamed Henry Dix & Co. The brewery produced approximately 1,500 barrels of beer per year. The brewery was sold in 1881 to Gottlieb Biedermann and John Bostwick and renamed Gottlieb Biedermann & Co. A bottling plant was added to the operation in 1900.
