The diagram above is a stylised depiction an organisation as a system operating in a multidimensional environment. This diagram however doesn't show that an organisation's environment is of very much dynamic nature. - Temporal Environment Consist of factors that change through time. (i.e. Organisation life-cycle, Industry Life cycle) The environment can be anticipated but cannot be controlled. - External Environment Consists of factors that are outside the organisation's boundary but nevertheless important to the outcome of organisation's performance. The environment can be anticipated but cannot be controlled. - Internal Environment Consists of factors that are inside the organisation's boundary. Divided into informal and formal sub-systems.
