There is a difference between leadership and management. To answer this question we must look at leadership and management separately. They are both notions that could easily get confused. Is a leader in charge or is the manager, or are they both the same? First we shall look at what makes a manager and what a man needs to be one. So what defines a manager? Tom Peters feels that there are five recommended characteristics that a good manager should have. * An obsession with responsiveness to customers. * Constant innovation in all areas of the firm. * Partnership- the wholesale participation of management and all members of an organization in the relationships with all those connected with the organization. * Leadership that loves change (instead of fighting it) and instills an aspiring vision * Control by means of simple support systems aimed at measuring the "right stuff" for toady's environment.
