Management theories were first developed as the industrial revolution grew and began forming corporations. Fayol and Taylor were two key figureheads at the turn of the century. Henri Fayol was responsible for the Classical School of Management theory. He saw a manager's job as: * Planning * Organizing * Commanding * Coordinating Activities * Controlling performance Frederick Taylor is considered the "Father of Management." He was a foreman at Bethlehem Steel Works at the turn of the century. He developed a discipline called scientific management, which included a technique called time and motion studies, which revolutionized productivity in many industries. He used a scientific approach to understanding the steps in completing a product and using money to create added incentive for working whom exceed the "average" level of production.
