Markets that were thought secure now look vulnerable to competition from other domestic companies, from the Pacific rim economies, form emerging market economies of what was Eastern Europe, from e-commerce. Managers must decide how best to respond to this competition: which markets to compete in and on what basis to compete- price, quality, customer service, and availability. Managers in these public sector organisations must make critical decisions on when and how to compete. * CHANGING NATURE OF COMPETITON: - The way in which businesses compete is also rapidly changing.
