Running head: LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT Leadership and Management Effective leadership can be approached from different perspectives and different disciplines. Not discounting the importance of different perspectives and disciplines, understanding the relationship between leaders and managers is critical to the success of an organization's culture. The traditional roles of leaders and managers have changed dramatically over the last 20 years. How leaders influence others to attain goals through leadership and how managers follow their leaders will separate effective organizations from ineffective organizations (Bateman & Snell, 2002). "The Darwinian struggle of daily business will be won by the people-and the organizations-that adapt most successfully to the new world that is unfolding." (Bateman & Snell, 2002). The traditional roles of management must deal with new challenges of globalization.
