Introduction In this assignment I intend to appraise the theory of effective operation of groups as proposed by B W Tuckman. I aim to show how I have developed my understanding and theoretical knowledge of team working. Firstly, what exactly does team working mean? The definition as contained in the oxford dictionary is: "Organised co-operation" Groups of people that share a common purpose, to which they are all committed and who are empowered to set goals, solve problems and make decisions. Without these common traits they are not a 'team', they are a group of people who happen to work together within the same environment. Successful teams are interdependent and recognise that the joint contributions of team members will yield a better solution than the individual contributions could.
