INTRODUCTION In the last decades the era of information, also referred to as the age of information by most of the Management Information Systems (MIS) literature, has emerged thanks to the appearance of computers, Internet, in addition to many other resources. The amount of data available is unimaginable and therefore the possibilities to accumulate "junk" information are enormous. Organisations have to manage an ocean of information in the most efficient way in order to be effective and competitive. It is the task of information systems (IS) to deal with all the tools that could give businesses the framework of managing their information.
