Pay and rewards - pay schemes Introduction Pay as a motivator that rewards the contribution that employees make to an organisation is a key issue for many employers in the public and private sector. Many organisations have devised pay methods that link individual or team performance to a pay system that rewards this. Alternatively, pay has been used to recognise such factors as individual development, responsibility, risk-taking and loyalty or experience.
