1.0 INTRODUCTION One of the most significant developments in organisations in recent times is the increasing importance given to human resource management. This new awakening has enlarged the scope of applying principles of human resource management in organisations. The development of people, their competencies and retaining them are the main concerns of human resource management. In fact human resource issues are no longer confined to organisations alone but have become a national concern in many nations.
