HUMAN RESOURCE PLANNING 1. FORECASTING HR NEEDS As human resource planning has become a critical source of competitiveness. Management at Marriott tries to forecast their needs by evaluation and judgement of employee's behavior and work performance. As the employee turnover rate is 18% in the hotel it is easy to predict the need before hand. Due to proper forecasting the personnel department of Marriott has never been short staffed. 2. JOB ANALYSIS Personnel department of Marriott uses functional job analysis as a help to classify jobs. Things that are observed during a job analysis are: - i. General information ii. Decision making skills iii. Ability to plan and organize iv. Administrating v. Controlling vi. Supervising vii. Knowledge viii. Co-ordination ix. Consulting and Innovating All the above-mentioned characteristics are strictly followed as per the requirement of job. STAFFING It is the policy and practice of the hotel to recruit and hire people without the discrimination of race, color, age, sex, religion, language etc...
