Introduction Since the end of the Second World War one significant phenomenon in the world economy is the rapid growth of foreign direct investment (FDI) in the wake of the rapid expansion of multinational enterprises (MNEs). Although FDI growth slowed even dropped occasionally, it has been maintaining an overall growing trend. With the growth of FDI, there have been many significant changes in the world economy and politics, such as the growth and liberalization of international trade, the formation of regional trading groups, the rapid expansion of many industrialized countries, and the rise of newly industrialized countries, etc. FDI has been playing increasingly important role in international business and globalisation over years.
