EXECUTIVE SUMMARY The world is shrinking and globalisation is the new order that binds us all together in mutual interdependence. Sink or swim, we go forward as one world. Global strategies prevail as South Africa bodes its resilience in the global environment showing an economy growing by more than 3% at times. Opportunities and threats in the global arena are addressed by the policies and strategic plans set in place by the prevailing democratic government. Although SA was a latecomer to the globalisation drive, much has happened in the past few years to ensure a growing international presence and the increased competitiveness of the South African economy.
