The Day that Changed the World America watched with terror as they saw the biggest terrorist attack, since Pearl Harbour, on the World Trade Centres. Yesterday, 11th September 2001, as helpless passengers sat petrified, terrorist stunned the world by flying two hijacked jets straight into the twin towers of the Trade Centre, where 50,000 people work. The first plane was a an American Airlines Boeing 767 carrying a total of 92 passengers and crew flying from Boston to Los Angeles when terrorist gang took control and headed for New York. It ploughed into the 1,368 ft North Tower about 2:00 PM, GMT, not far not far from the top of the 110-storey skyscraper. It blasted a gaping hole in the Tower and huge flames leaped from the side of skyscraper. The second hijacked American Airline 757 plane, holding 64 passengers hostage, followed 18 minutes later.
