My Position on Inequality Bradley Elkins University of Phoenix SOC 101 David Griffin September 11, 1999 Is there a growing difference in pay between graduates of a university and people who have just graduated high school? In the article The Inequality Express Barry Bluestone analyzes a book that Michael Young wrote in 1958 The Rise of the Meritocracy. Young predicted by the 2034 there would be a revolt in Britain inspired by inequality. Barry agrees with Young's theory and proves that history is well on its way to greater inequality. I personally believe in the bottom line that Bluestone is pointing out, but I think a little of his facts are hyped up and/or not giving you the whole picture. I also do not agree with the methods in which Barry lists to correct inequality. I am going to explain the things that I liked and did not like about Barry's findings in this position...
