The WTO is an important component of GPE. Trade and politics can hardly be separated and thus a predominant body is needed to regulate countries' foreign policies and to settle disputes between them. A short history of the WTO is given, as well as why international trade is seen as political and economical. The WTO is discussed further as well as the controversial Dispute Settlement Body. A trade dispute between Korea, the United States and the European Communities show how important this function of the WTO is.
