Introduction The purpose of this document is to thoroughly address the impact of the Consumer Guarantees Act. This will be done by considering the position that obtained before this enactment and examining other relevant laws and institutions. The consumer guarantees act is "an act to amend the law relating to: (a) the guarantees available to consumers upon the supply of goods or services and; (b) the rights of redress against suppliers and manufacturers in respect of a failure of goods or services to comply with any such guarantees, and for connected purposes." (The Consumer Guarantees Act, 2003) In this definition there is mention of a law which has been amended by the consumer guarantees act, that law is the Sale of Goods Act (1895) which prevailed before the consumer guarantees act was passed in 2003.
