Spring Break Spring Break is an established cultural tradition among college students, an annual event with its own sets of rituals, a piece of 20th century Americana. Some of the elements of the Spring Break tradition go way back in the customs of American college students. While alcohol plays a central role in Spring Break rituals, planned activities expand to include more sports, trips to theme parks and other tourist spots, snorkeling and scuba diving, even a job fair. In recent years we have seen an upsurge in alternatives to Ft. Lauderdale and Daytona Beach. Other spots attracting high attendance include Panama City, South Padre Island in Texas, Palm Springs in California, Cancun, Acapulco, and the Bahamas. 2.
