With reference to the quotation, discuss the use of non-human animals in psychological research. Psychologists have myriad reasons for carrying out research on non-human animals. They are chiefly orientated around the extent to which the benefits from the findings will contribute to humanity. Animals are convenient to use, as suggested by the quotation above, because they are genetically and physiologically (especially where mammals are concerned) very similar to us. This enables the findings to be generalised, in the majority of cases, to human beings. The behavior of non-human animals is definitely perceived to be much less complex than our own, so in that respect it proves easier to study. This...
