Definition: An evergreen, deciduous forest with a minimum average monthly temperature of 18°C and a minimum monthly precipitation total of 100mm throughout the year. Location: Tropical rainforests are found at low altitude between 7° N&S of the equator> South America - Amazon basin> Southeast Asia - Borneo, India, Indonesia> West Africa - Congo Basin> North East Australia - Queensland state Climate: equatorial, very consistent, varies with location but generally> Temperatures vary between 20 - 25°C throughout the year> Precipitation is between 125 - 660cm a year, relatively consistent in every month.> There is a daily precipitation pattern: high temps cause high evpotransipration rates during the morning. By the afternoon large clouds have developed through condensation and heavy precipitation occurs. This is conventional rainfall.> Humidity averages between 77 - 88%> Intense sunlight - insolation has less atmosphere to pass through so less backscatter, it has shorter distance so less diffraction...
