Design a preparation phase plan for a sport of your choice which focuses on areas of physical preparation and conditioning fitness. Before an athlete begins a training programme, the components of fitness for the specific sport that they are training for must be understood. In hockey there are many components of fitness but the main ones are listed in the table below. The components in the table must be included in any programme to ensure that the training is effective. Component Speed - Useful for tacking on defenders. Anaerobic fitness - Is good for bursts of sprinting. Aerobic fitness - Ensures a player can play high levels for longer. Agility - Helps the performance of complicated skills. Power - Especially in Biceps/Pecs, can aid in power of shots. Strength - As with power is important for passing, shooting.
