Soccer is controversial when it deals with being considered a sport in the United States. Soccer has been apart of the United States since 1609 when the British colony of Jamestown started games that resembled soccer. The game of Soccer did not become a collegiate level sport until 1862 when Princeton and other Ivy League schools started a conference. Soccer is game in which two teams of eleven players try to kick or head a ball into their opponent's goal and the goal keeper is the only person allowed to use their hands. The argument these days is that soccer will not be popular enough to be considered a sport in the United States; therefore, Americans today will not sit through two halves of forty-five minutes non-stop without becoming bored and fidgety due to the lack of entertainment in...
