Currently the UK operates an opting in system of organ donation, if people wish to donate their organs when they die, they sign a donor card or make their wishes know to their family. Other European countries, such as Spain, France and Belgium use a presumed consent system which means that they do not need to seek permission to use ones organs when they die.
