Title This experiment was conducted to compare times taken to complete card sorting tasks involving simple and complex information processing. Abstract The aim of this experiment is to determine whether it takes longer to complete a complex processing task than a simple one. The participants used were 21 One Year Psychology A-Level students at Belfast Institute of Further and Higher Education. The participants were aged from 17-21. The experiment was conducted using a pack of cards into different piles depending on the task requirements. We found that the participants gained a better time in the simple task of sorting the cards out into two piles by colour than they did dividing them into piles of odd and even numbers.
