The race of the victim (black or white). The presence of helping models (present or absent) and the size of the witnessing group. Method: Using four teams of four researchers - two female who recorded reactions and two male, one acting victim and one model. The victims consisted of 3 white, 1 black, all aged between 26 -35, dressed and acted identically and were instructed to collapse after 70 seconds and remain on the floor until helped.
