ABSTRACT: An experimental within groups design was employed. The experiment consisted of three independent variables; self-esteem, (Brandon, 1992 defined self-esteem as the disposition to experience oneself as being competent top cope with basic challenges of life and worthy of happiness) emotional intelligence (Mayer (2001) defines emotional intelligence as "an ability to recognise the meaning of emotions and their relationships, and to reason and problem-solve on the basis of them. Emotional intelligence is the capacity to perceive emotions assimilate emotion-related feelings, understand the information of those emotions and manage them") and number of previous partners. The dependent variable was satisfaction in relationship. Participants were asked to fill out questionnaires, which would measure the three independent variables and the dependent variable. Results supported research predictions that higher emotional intelligence leads to higher relationship satisfaction and that lower number of previous partners leads to more satisfaction within a relationship.
