( dictionary.com) This is the dictionary's definition of temperament; however an accepted definition between psychologists seems harder to find (McCall, 1987). Temperament is a set of in-born traits that organize a child's approach to the world. They are crucial to a child's development and personality. These traits are independent of each other. It is evident that temperament is present from birth and possibly even before. It is strongly influenced by biological factors and our genetic makeup. As a child grows their temperament becomes influenced by the environment and experience and develops further into personality.
