With reference to the findings of Psychologists and some Sociologists, it has been argued that early childhood 'Attachments' are of paramount importance, and that a good early attachment is crucial for a child's' long term development. An Attachment, in this sense, can be described as a bond formed by infants and a caregiver; a strong bond of emotion. Many psychologists have studied the topic of attachments. Early research demonstrating the importance of attachments in animals and how they happen was put forward by Konrad Lorenz in 1950. In his study of animals in their natural environment, Lorenz became particularly interested in the way goslings and young ducks followed their parents around soon after they were hatched.
