Initially Psychology was known as the 'study of the mind' and has now evolved to include areas such as the education, health, behaviour, creativity, language and social development. (Clark and Miller, 1970) Individual differences and personality are particularly important issues with Psychologists, as they affect intelligence in many aspects like the way that individuals thought process, behaviour and personality are affected by culture, gender, age etc. This essay looks at intelligence and the way in which it is measured. (Abercrombie, Hill and Turner, 2000,) Psychologists find it hard to define intelligence, and it is an on going debate due to the fact that psychologists cannot agree on exactly what it is or how it is measured. (Abercrombie, Hill and Turner, 2000,) Intelligence is the cognitive ability of an individual, to learn from experience, to reason well, to remember
