Rafidah Aga Mohd Jaladin Department of Educational Psycholgy and Counselling Faculty of Education University of Malaya Artificial intelligence (AI) and psychology have made considerable progress in advancing our understanding of the human mind. Both fields view the mind as a computational system, however, they differ in their scientific goals for modelling the mind. A major goal of AI research involves creating a machine that possesses genuine intelligence (Smith, 1989). The term 'genuine intelligence' refers to an ability to learn and adapt to novel situations quickly and effectively (Chaplin, 1985). In other words, AI attempts to reproduce mentality in computational machines, making a computer with a mind.
