HUMAN COGNITION PROJECT PLAN: SUSTAINED ATTENTION TO RESPONSE TASK REVISITED: in light of sensitivity to Cognitive Failures Questionnaire scores and safety implications ANN-MARIE ROY TUTOR: JONATHAN SMALLWOOD ABSTRACT This study replicated Robertson et al's (1997) study, which looked at the sensitivity of the Sustained Attention to Response Task (SART) with Cognitive Failures Questionnaire (CFQ) scores. This study is important in light of safety issues when undertaking monotonous tasks. Sixteen participants, obtained from opportunity sampling in Glasgow Caledonian University, completed SART and CFQ. Results show that all participants were faster before and slower after an error although interactions suggest the high CFQ group did not slow down as much as the low CFQ group. There was no significant interaction between CFQ and SART scores, although the p values fell just outside the criteria for significance. Failure to replicate the original findings cannot be because of CFQ invalidity, as it is an established measure. The fault may...
