Describe the working memory model of short memory. What evidence is there in support of any ONE of the working memory subsystems? The first part of this essay will focus on describing the working memory model of short memory. The second part of this essay will address evidence in support of the phonological loop, which is a subsystem of the working memory. In regards to the working memory model, Baddeley proposed it and Hitch in 1974, when they claimed the concept of short-term store should be replaces with that of the working memory. Baddeley and Hitch believed the working memory is an active store to hold and manipulate information, which is currently being consciously thought about.
