Describe the factors that lead to the generation of false memories. What are the implications for the testimony of adult victims of childhood abuse? A vast amount of research has been conducted in attempts to gain a deeper insight into the human memory. It has been established that there are various types of memory, such as true memories, false memories and memories that consist of fact and fantasy. The main focus of this study is to explore the implications of False Memories Syndrome. This subject is particularly important in the case of adult victims of childhood abuse. A simple definition of a False Memory Syndrome is a memory of events that never happened or memories for events that that are greatly distorted.
