Option B How do different explanations for dyslexia suggest contrasting approaches to the treatment/management of dyslexia? Illustrate your answer with specific examples from the chapter. Dyslexia is a label used to describe specific difficulties in learning to read and write but it's not confined to just reading and writing and that's what makes it so distinctive. There are numerous explanations for dyslexia and therefore differing approaches to the treatment/management for it and in this essay, these will be tackled using a framework that takes into account simultaneously three levels: biological, cognitive and behavioural. Each of these will be examined in some depth, and the evidence evaluated. It will conclude that no single cause can be established and that any taken in isolation, will provide an incomplete picture of what may cause the behavioural symptoms.
