Anxiety Definition: According to The American Heritage College Dictionary anxiety is defined as "1. A state of uneasiness and appreciation, 2. Psychiatric state of intense, often disabling apprehension, uncertainty and fear caused by the anticipation of something threatening." (Houghton, 1993) However to use the word "Anxiety" is a misleading notion, as there are numerous mental disorders linked to anxiety. "Most people experience feelings of anxiety before an important event such as a big exam, a business presentation, or a first date." (www.nimh.nih.gov) Anxiety disorders turn people's lives upside down, and inside out, by filling them with tremendous anxiety and fears that can be constant, and will get much worse if they are not treated or recognized in time. Anxiety disorders are the most common mental illnesses among the American population. "More than nineteen million American adults are affected by these debilitating illnesses each year. Children and adolescents may also develop anxiety disorders."...
