I will be discussing two urban planning schemes that took place in Glasgow during the 19th centaury. These were referred to as "Comprehensive Redevelopment" and "Urban Renewal." Glasgow is a city situated near the west coast of Scotland in the UK. Just like the river Thames runs through London a river called the river Clyde runs all the way through Glasgow. The city is fairly big and shares a border with 7 other areas of Scotland. Glasgow became a very wealthy city in the middle of the 19th Centaury, during this time local deposits of coal and iron ore started to by mined in the city. These were the exact right raw materials required to construct ships and large boats. Not only did they have the right materials but they also had the river Clyde.
