There can be many comparisons and contrasts made between the principal elements of urban form in Greek and Roman cities. In this essay I hope to highlight the similarities and differences by backing up my points through accurate examples; and locations. In my introduction I will just briefly identify the major elements of urban form in Greek cities during the sixth to third centuries B.C and the elements of roman cities during the first century A.D. the main Greek elements include the agora, the enclosing city wall, the residential districts, and their place of worship which is the Acropolis. Priene is a possible example that is worthwhile mentioning as it is a typical example that displays these elements (Morris 1994, 41.).
