Housing in South East London has been very intense since the early 1990s, South East region have not been able to meet projected housing requirement especially affordable homes. Over the next 20 years if London cannot expand its housing supply sufficiently, the tensions will increase. The property research unit at the University of Cambridge found that: * The new household projections suggest a greater increase in the number of households in the South East, compared to the country as a whole. Over 850,000 additional houses are expected in the south east over the next 25 years from 1996- 2021. * The projected growth in the demand for labouring the region is likely to be matched by the expansion in the working population until 2006.
