Houses Houses have changed over the centuries. Human habitats began with caves for shelter from the elements and a place to rest. This of course was based on group dwelling, eating and drinking together not just for socialisation but also for heat. Moving onto wattle and daub type housing ,humans became more sophisticated and wanted "personal space" for family groups instead of tribal. A different part of the cave was no longer good enough. However, even these too became "old hat" because they were dusty and smelly, as well as dark. Secondly, there was aneed for stronger protection from enemies and loss of goods qand/or food. Castles( with homes within their walls) and farm houses took over the sheltering role. From this Humans started to compete and explore styles and fabric to be put into use fro building adequate shelters. This has continued to evolve over the centuries from homes...
