HISTORY OF THE RUSSIAN HOUSE Among the cultural and social creations of a society architecture occupies an important place. Buildings do not only provide a place to hide from the natural elements, but also reflect the living conditions of people, their world view, beliefs and mythology. Architecture was always closely connected to the industrial achievments and material culture. In the Russian culture the house evolved as a product of people's creativity and way of life, social relations and relationships with nature. In this paper I'll try attempting to describe the evolution and brief history of the Russian house concerning its architecture and mythology. The dwellings of Russian people are studied relatively well starting from the 16th century onwards. Written records and different drawings and plans exist together with folk tales and narratives of the contemporaries.
