Thesis: Germany played a large role in creating tension between the Soviet Union and the United States because the two major countries have entirely different plans for the future of Germany. They cannot seem to agree with Germany's military, political, and economic policies. Point 1: The political future of Germany was different between USSR and the US. Initially, the two countries agreed at the Potsdam Conference to keep German decentralized, demilitarized, democratized, de-nazified, and de-industrialized. Also, it had been agreed that Germany would be temporarily divided into four Allied zones of occupation, and Germany should be treated as one economic unit to be administered by the Allied Control Council. United States, on the other hand, wanted Germany to stand on its own again. In 1947, the United States formed the Bizonia with Great Britain...
