Images of spending a week with unknown people in dead-end jobs flooded into my head. It was obviously going to be far too much effort for what it was worth. After traipsing to the 'careers library' I was not only confronted with a massive queue that curved into the horizon like a gelatinous reptile, but I was quickly told once inside, that working alongside Villa manager John Gregory for a week was 'inappropriate'. Of what they did have however, I was then told there were only a few places left and I should have come to see them earlier. Great! I found myself making the decision of whether to go to an infant school full of screaming little terrors, a garden centre full of Alan Titmarsh wannabes...
