Why Study GCSE Welsh?

If you're at school in Wales then you'll have to study Welsh. There are different types of GCSE Welsh course depending on whether you're a native speaker or learning it as second language. You can also take a GCSE in Welsh Literature if you want to do more.

GCSE Welsh: What Will I Study?

If you're studying Welsh as a second language then the topics covered are similar to those taught for GCSE French or German. The aim is for you to be able to use Welsh to communicate in everyday situations. You'll learn to speak and write about topics like your school life, family and interests. The ability to read Welsh from a range of sources is also important. GCSE Welsh is assessed by a mix of coursework and exams. You'll have to do an oral exam and a listening comprehension.

GCSE Welsh... What Can I Study Next?

There are A Levels in Welsh and in Welsh as a Second Language available. You may be able to opt for Welsh as part of an International Baccalaureate course. Welsh language, literature and history degree courses are offered by the Welsh Universities.
