Question: Compare and Contrast the Functionalism and Marxism Views on Family Answer: Functionalism and Marxism are both macro and structural theories and they both have very comparative views on family but at the same time, they both have contrasting views for example, both functionalism and Marxism both talk about reproduction but by the end of their view, they have a contrasting end result. Functionalism and Marxism both believe that reproduction will benefit society but the end result between the two is contrasting. Functionalism sees that reproduction will benefit society as reproduction help create bonds between child and parent and that the child will be more stable because of the parents which contrasts with the Marxist view on reproduction as reproduction will benefit society by housewives producing and raising the next generation of workers.
