Feminists and Marxists The Feminist theory aims to understand the nature of inequality and focuses on gender politics, power and family relations. While generally providing a critique of social relations, much of feminist theory also focuses on analyzing gender inequality and the promotion of women's rights, interests, and issues. Themes explored in feminism include discrimination, stereotyping, objectification, oppression, and patriarchy. Feminists like Margaret Sanger (White feminist), Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Susan Anthony (Black feminist) all contributed to the feminist theory. The Functionalism theory is about the structure and workings of society. Functionalists see society as made up of inter-dependent sections which work together to fulfill the functions necessary for the survival of society as a whole.
